Also, Meanie's keyhelper for usb keyboards might help you out.

I got mine working so I don't want to undo it to test the different permutations, but I tried to install my Stowaway keyboard first using Meanie's ipk. No joy. Everytime I would plug it in to the host, it would lock up. My suggestions:
1) Make sure that plug in the host cable first, then plug-in the keyboard.
If that locks you up, follow Meanie's instructions to enable a USB mouse and then try #1 again. That worked for me.
I figured out that my USB A Female to USB mini-A adapter will not work for this. You need to use the host cable. Either it has some logic or is wired cross-over or something, but it was the only thing that worked for me. Now I have my USB mouse and USB Stowaway keyboard plugged in to an unpowered USB hub that is plugged in to the host cable to the Z and the mouse is working great (with scrollwheel) and the keyboard is recognized, but the map is really wacky so I need to see if I can find/make a better one.
