Cacko Won't Boot
« on: July 17, 2006, 06:35:11 pm »
i have a c3100 with cacko 1.23, it worked fine till i inistalled the c3100 japanese support from the cacko feed. now it will only go as far as the loading image, and after a lil while, it will jump back to the commandline screen, and start couting " waiting.....5/4/3/2/1" then it will show the cacko booting image, but after a lil while, it will jump back to the command line, and start count down again, it just kept doing this over and over again. is there anyway to fix it? I really donno wip my flash, i don't have a back up, so there r alot stuffs and settings that i don't want to lose, so someone please help me.

thank you

While it's counting down hit the / key and you will be prompted for which mode to enter - hit "a" to get a console.

Log in as root, there shouldn't be a password, just hit enter.

Then type

Code: [Select]
ipkg status to see the the correct name of the japanese support ipk then
Code: [Select]
ipkg remove japanese_support
Then you will be able to power off the Z and it should reboot.

Check out the J support for Cacko 1.23 thread, as there was a problem with the C3100 ipk (that was supposed to have been fixed). From memory one of the japanese input methods was dodgy and caueses the continual reboot

Hi @ all,
It seems I have nearly the same problem, so I don't start a new threat:

I install Cacko 1.23 on my 3200. I also install a few applications (pisync, zsafe, dosbox, textmaker... ) without any errors.
After I backup my system on cf, the zaurus won't reboot correctly.

54321,.... the screen "loading Linux & Cacko" until the small cross in the middle of the screen is up for a short time. And the loop beginns.

So please you have any suggestions about the reasons about, or the positions of some log-files to fix the bug in my system???

I dont have any japanese applications installed!

best regards & thank you

Thorsten
