Wifi Setup (sharp / Cacko)
« on: June 05, 2006, 10:45:21 am »
This problem is common to the WIFI setup on both the Sharp and Cacko ROM.

I need to access a network that has a space inside the SSID, as in "my network".  The GUI won't let me insert a space, and I can't figure out what configuration file I need to edit manually to override this.

Any help will  be welcome!

I don't think you can.  But it WILL connect if you just have it set to connect to any network.  You just have to get lucky

Thanks.  After several hours of looking through files (I really have to learn how to use grep!) I found the setting I was loking for in /etc/pcmcia/wlan-ng.opts.  After manually changing the ESSID paramater for the connection I needed, and then unplugging and re-plugging the WI-FI card, I got connected.

Anton - could you add to some future "To-Do List" to allow spaces in the ESSID field in the Network applet?

I don't understand how you edited your /etc/pcmcia/network.opts file.  There is no ESSID setting.  As far as I know the ESSID setting is in /home/zaurus/Applications/Network/modules/ in the individual files for each connection.
