I finally got time to upgrade from rc4. I noticed that a fat formatted sd card is mounted under /media/card but an ext2 one is mounted under /media/mmcblk0, whereas the /etc/fstab is the same for both. I remember talking about something similar on the dev list. How can I 'fix' this? Where's the script that controls the mounting? I'm guessing that /etc/sdcontrol is only for 2.4 kernel roms 'cause it's not there anymore. thks

I managed to find the last post that referenced this.

You can use the tune2fs command to change the label of an existing ext2/3 disk.
The syntax is

tune2fs -L label devicename.

Eg. tune2fs -L Datadisk1 /dev/mmcda1

I've not had a much of a chance to figure out my last question about changing the sd mount point, so if anyone has a pointer to the mounter script I'd greatly appreciate it.  I think it's part of the altboot process, so perhaps coredump could give me a clue?

On to another problem/challenge I've encountered. In the previous (read 2.4 kernel) OZ releases I was able to add symlinks to be set up under /var to point to non-volatile filesystems to preserve stuff like the ipkg lists & my cron tab. Now under 3.5.4.1 (GPE) /etc/default/volatiles/00_core doesn't seem to be followed. I've made the following changes (which as I said worked previously):

Code: [Select]
/etc/default/volatiles$ diff 00_core 00_core.org
27a28
> d root root 0755 /var/lib/ipkg none
40,42d40
< l root root 0777 /var/lib/ipkg /home/local/ipkg
< l root root 0777 /var/cron /home/local/cron
< l root games 0777 /var/games /home/local/games

Any ideas? thks

I can report it works like a charm on my Spitz. :-)

I am running GPE.

A couple of questions:

1) Will a swap partition of 256mb make any difference in speed?

2) Can anyone suggest a mplayer frontend?

3) How can I change the title font (I mean the font used in the window title, it's really tiny!)

Tried OZ/Opie on my C860 and found that whilst all seemed to work great, the taskbar and icons on it were just unreadable due to their size.

Great release otherwise though it seems. Keep up the good work

Ok, I installed Totem from the feed, it runs, works for a second or so and then segfaults.

When run from a console, I get a thousand GTK+ errors... Any ideas?

Also, are there any unicode fonts in the feed? Will unicode fonts from the pdaxrom feed work with OZ & GPE? I already have a greek.xmodmap (thanks to fellow Greek user Nick), I just need some fonts!

Thanks Hrw! Now I Firefox can display Greek websites properly... Is there a way to configure GPE Browser & Dillo to use these fonts also? Greek pages when using these 2 browsers are not displayed properly (gibberish)...
