ZYNERGY interesting findings
« on: March 01, 2004, 12:25:49 am »
hi,
i installed zynergy and found a few interesting things.
(sl-5600)

1- I had open zaurus on last and abandoned that. When I go to system info, I see opie 1.0.1,,, linux kernel 2.4.18 and open zaurus version 0.0.. Apparently some remants of oz remain? I followed procedure of the update and flash and ran clean. ANyone else came from oz and saw similar? My thoughts might be to try to delete all partitions as best I can and reinstall unless others have any other ideas?? Where does sysinfo pick up info from?

2- Is this running opie or qtopia? I can sync with qtopia desktop.

3- Packages.. Under add/remove software , I too could not use gui as it would immediately end, with nothing. I could install manually with ipkg install package.ipk. THe package installer does see the packages on my cards. (and even has blue circle around the openssh installed ones). When I go to uninstall, it only contains the 3 that I installed nothing earlier.

4- When I display partitions:

/dev/root for / is 100% full
/dev/ram1 for /dev is 61% full  rw
/dev/mtdblock3 for /home is 17% full

/home contains:

tmp etc zaurus QtPalmtop samba root userdata sharp and system...
 all normal after install?

I am running OZ on a 5600 as well.  I have had the sharp ROM, OZ 3.3.5, and zynergy ROMs in various orders.  I am currently on zynergy, with the preemptive, overclocked kernel.  I see the same stuff in the system info, opie, OZ, etc.  I think that is just due to the zynergy rom being a hodge-podge of stuff, as is stated on the zynergy web page.

i dont see the same partition info as you,  when i go to system info/storage, i see internal flash pretty low, like 3MB.

how did you get the partition info?

From mount , or df -k commands.

did you have similar experiences with the package info?

which specific kernel are you using (which preemptive overclocked one of the ones for sharp rom?). DOes it also have wireless extensions? iwconfig.

Thanks
