Memory Management On Sl5500
« on: August 28, 2006, 04:26:01 pm »
Hi all,

Can someone tell me what it is about ROM 3.10 that makes it manage memory better than ROM 2.38?  Is it the settings in /proc/vm, or is it something about qtopia, or something else?

My /proc/vm directory shows in it:

bash# head /proc/sys/vm/*
==> /proc/sys/vm/bdflush <==
30      64      64      256     500     3000  60       0       0

==> /proc/sys/vm/buffermem <==
2       10      60

==> /proc/sys/vm/freepages <==
60      120     360

==> /proc/sys/vm/freepg_signal_current <==
410

==> /proc/sys/vm/freepg_signal_proc <==
qpe

==> /proc/sys/vm/freepg_signal_watermarks <==
200     400     800

==> /proc/sys/vm/kswapd <==
512     32      8

==> /proc/sys/vm/overcommit_memory <==
0

==> /proc/sys/vm/page-cluster <==
3

==> /proc/sys/vm/pagecache <==
2       15      75

==> /proc/sys/vm/pagetable_cache <==
25      50
bash#

Is this the same as in 3.1x?  If it is, then is there something else other than qtopia that is relevant?   Does anyone know if there is a qcop QPE channel that deals with memory?

TIA,
sdjf
