I don\'t know if there is something up with the Riverbank distribution. I use Mickey Lauer\'s build at
http://www.vanille.de/projects/python.spy, though you need to use dpkg-deb to expand the files - they didn\'t install with the normal install app (Sharp 3.13) for me. I think they are okay with OZ.
The advantage of Mickey\'s set is that it is a more complete collection - specifically, it has the readline package so that the arrow keys work properly at the command line (you need to also install libreadline), and I conned Mickey into compiling Numeric, which is useful for numeric/scientific programming.
Give a shout if you need more help. Python on the Z is a blast, so don\'t give up!
