Familiar V0.8.4 "host Name Lookup Failure"
« on: December 05, 2007, 05:14:28 pm »
Hi, I've got a SL4 running familiar 0.8.4 on it.
I'm using a Siemens I-Gate PCMCA wlan pcmcia device (eth0)
My Problem is that I can ping IP's and the simpad itself but I can't ping host names for example "google.com". If I try I'm getting "host name lookup failure" in the console.

My /var/run/resolv.conf looks as following:
Code: [Select]
nameserver

and in /etc there's a symlink to resolv.conf but host name resolving still does not work.

Does anybody know why/is this i known problem maybe?

thx, T3X

Hi,
you can try to use another name server entry in your /etc/resolf.conf e.g
nameserver 129.70.182.8
I am myself have some problems with my routers dns server forwarding.
