« on: July 09, 2008, 04:32:01 am »
Hi everybody,

which are the best settings for mencoder to convert wmv files to avi format? I want to use it on my Zaurus (SL-C3100 & pdaXii13v2).
I read many articel in this forum but nothing found.

Any ideas????

I don't think you can do that on the Z.  My understanding is that mplayer uses the Windows codec via Wine to play any WMV9 files.  Since this codec cannot work on the Z, because the Z uses an ARM processor not x86, I don't see how you would be able to get the data out of the WMV file.  You could convert the files on an x86 Linux or Windows system into an AVI and then play that on your Z though.

Well, you COULD do something extreme like running MEncoder inside a Bochs/QEMU x86 session on the Z (which would be using WINE inside of that), but that would be insanely slow.

In short, I don't think it will happen.
