Can\'t install lib_compat
« on: March 14, 2004, 05:46:22 pm »
So I\'m using 3.3.6.  Right after flash, I download the compat libraries to ram, then try to ipk install them, but one of them fails because there isn\'t enough room.

How do I install these libraries?  Also, is there a way to get aqpkg to install just regular ipk files?

These are a bit naughty, indeed! But your problem seems easy to solve... you should install software into ram, a portion of your Z\'s memory has been reserved for that (you probably choose you kernel to suit your needs regarding that). In aqpkg, you can give it the installation destination in some step, so choose RAM there. If you\'re using ipkg, try \"ipkg install -dest ram oz-compat.ipk\", that should do it. Note that if you don\'t use ipkg, you have to make suiting symlinks after installation to ram, that is \"ipkg-link add oz-compat\". Hope that helps!

Cheers

Although it says you should install to root, it is possible (though a little painful - you\'ll probably have to do some manual symlinking of the stuff which is placed in /etc) to install to one of the cards.

Also install opie-sh from the 3.3.6pre1 feed (assumgin you want to be able to use the applet rather than the command line to enable compatibility), not the one from the above feed (though it may work, I\'m not too sure).
