opie-handwriting crashed the system
« on: April 02, 2004, 06:39:18 pm »
This is something that\'s never happened before.
I recently changed my memory/RAM setup on OZ3.2 on my 5500. I had been running the 32/32 setup for quite some time with no problems whatsoever. I have alway found OZ 3.2 to be very stable I wanted a bit more system memory, so I went for the 48/16 setup. It flashed OK, and I then began to get everything customized the way I like it.

When I went it to change some of the handwriting characters to match what I wanted, then went to save the settings, it completely locked up the system. I  went to do a soft reset, then when it gets to the OZ boot screen, it locks up on that. The cursor stops blinking and it just stays there indefinitely. Even a hard reset doesn\'t fix it. I\'m beginning to think I need to re-flash, which isn\'t a big deal considering I did it yesterday.

Has anybody else ran into problems when customizing the handwriting recognition? Should I stay away from that, or install a different version? My only guess is to take the advice from the OZ FAQ (here) and move the \"qimpen\" file to ram and symlink it where it\'s located in ROM.I\'ll be re-flashing the ROM anyway, but a little advice on preventing this in the futrue would be helpful.

Thanks in advance
