I sent an inquiry to Sharp
« on: April 06, 2004, 12:43:04 pm »
I\'m sure it was a futile effort, but I sent Sharp a note through their contact web page at http://sharpusa.com/global/ContactUsProdSu...1,1878,,00.html
asking politely when the 6000W would be available.  If lots of other people did that, maybe they would figure out that the demand is there.

(not that I\'m expecting a response...)

I got a reply: They told me it was available at amazon.

Sad. I had to re-inform they that I was looking for info on the \"W\" model.

Codefire,

I submitted the same inquiry yesterday and today I got (of course...) the same reply. And trying to be proactive I even specified in my e-mail that the SL-6000W is the one with 802.11 AND Bluetooth. This really cracks me up, WE have to tell Sharp what the difference is between their models..................................................

Subject: RE: New Contact Us Product Support Submission for Zaurus (SL Series)

Hello,
Thank you for the response but it is the \"L\" model
that is available at amazon and pc-connection. I was
interested in the \"W\" model, the one with wireless and Bluetooth
capabilities. Is there a release date for this model?

Thank you,

The really funny bit is, two days after PC Connections started shipping the SL-6000, I called Sharp technical support. They told me that the 6000 series had been delayed, and would only ship towards the end of the year. The support guy was really surprised when I directed him to the PC Connections web site.
Sharp really has a different take on doing  business, most companies like to train their tech support people before a product ships, not Sharp!
