is my rom install corrupt?
« on: June 09, 2004, 12:39:47 pm »
Hi, I am a new zaurus owner and installed the openzaurus rom last night. When it finished I noticed a number of fsck files on my compact flash. That seemed odd to me. Now when trying to install konqueror embedded it complains about missing dependancy qpe-base. Do I need to reflash my rom or is there another fix?

My advice would be to switch to theKompany.rom 2.0 and wait for OpenZaurus to become stable.  I spent allot of time with OZ and ended up settling with theKompany.rom.

I\'ve tried Sharp, OZ, Cacko and theKompany and like theKompany the best.  OZ looked great, but is not ready yet IMHO

I\'ve not had any particular troubles with OZ. However you don\'t state which device you\'re using.

Where did you find this particular version of konq? I don\'t have qpe-base on my OZ 3.3.6pre1 C750 either. Sounds like it might be an old version?

In any case you will be able to install it by forcing the dependencies, either look in options if you\'re using the GUI installation tool, or use something like the following on the command line:

ipkg install --force-depends konq-embedded.ipk

Si
C750 OZ3.5.4 (GPE, 2.6.x kernel)
SL5500 OZ3.5.4 (Opie)
Nokia 770
Serial GPS, WCF-12, Socket Ethernet & BT, Ratoc USB
WinXP, Mandriva

Sorry for not providing more details. It is a zaurus sl-5500 openzaurus rom is 3.3.5
the konqueror ipk is the one listed on this page. http://www.killefiz.de/zaurus/showdetail.php?app=39
the files listed further down that page are all source tar.gz
I tried the force dependancies option. but now it says I am out of space. that seems odd as I am trying to install to a 64mb sd card that has nothing on it.

Try grabbing Konq from the feed for your ROM:

http://www.openzaurus.org/official/3.3.5/collie/ipks/

Use this to install to an SD card:

ipkg install --force-depends -d sd konq-embedded.ipk

If you are already doing this, then check that the SD card has been mounted, otherwise the mountpoint points back to (the already rather full) root.

Thanks very much lardman, I will try that ipk with the openzaurus rom.
I have been using linux for 6+ years but I feel like a newbie with this zaurus stuff.
