Pre-emptive kernel question
« on: July 18, 2004, 04:37:07 pm »
I am a new Zaurus 5600 user; one of the first modifications I wanted to
make was to install the preemptive kernel that I found here.   I followed
the instructions, and when the SD update procedure starts up, I get an
error that the directory /etc/update/control/next could not be created.
Then, the system reboots.

I don't think, therefore, the kernel was altered.   What am I
overlooking?

Thanks,
Kenny

Pre-emptive kernel question

Is your SD card FAT16 formatted? Even if you think it is, it may be best to reformat it on the Zaurus with mkfs.msdos just to be sure.

Also the best kernel to get is the Special Kernel v1.3. The pre-emptive patch doesn't do much for the responsiveness of the Zaurus.
