can't install XMMS
« on: October 31, 2004, 04:56:33 pm »
I'm new in OZ /OPIE, ( now i'm testing on my SL6000L) i've downloaded
xmms-e_0.00007-1_armw4l-strongarm.ipk on my CF so from a command line i type inside the directory i've downloaded the file

ipkg install  xmms-e_0.00007-1_armw4l-strongarm.ipk

and i receive this error :

cannot find package xmms-e

WHY THIS ?
IS there a special procedure to configure ipkg and to install packages in OPIE ?

my ipkg.conf is empty...

Any helps ???

It's to do with the arch setting in the control file, and the (lack of one) in /etc/ipkg.conf.

I think I posted a while back about this. Have a look, if you can't find it I'll try to post the contents of /etc/ipkg.conf for you.

For my shepherd, part of it is listed here:

https://www.oesf.org/forums/inde...;.conf,and,arch

(I don't have my USB cable on me at the mo otherwise I'd list the whole lot).

I have a feeling that things will be different for your machine, so you might be better asking on the mailing list, or pm'ing someone here who has a 6000 (and OZ on it of course :-).
