Oz 3.5.1 security ... problems/ fix
« Reply #1 on: November 10, 2004, 11:22:05 pm »
I just switched to the OZ 3.5.1 ROM, and it appears that I no longer have the ability to set up a security passcode for startup of my Z. Do I have to load a separate plugin for this function, or is it a plugin already on the Z that just isn't working, similar to what ozzric100 posted?
I looked at ozzric's post, and I don't seem to have that particular file on my Z. I'm still pretty new to the Zaurus experience. (It's my first PDA, and I've had it for less than a month, so feel free to poke fun at my inexperienced questioning- I promise not to be offended.  )
The obvious question I'm asking is what the libmultiauth* will do- and will it be necessary to enable the security functions of the original Sharp ROM?
Also, are there other security plugins that you would reccommend? I don't have wireless for it yet, but I would like to be able to password-protect an occaisional file. Among other things, my Z will function as my personal finance tracker (which I want password-protected beyond the rest of the functions of the Z). If I will be able to protect files individually, I might even use it as a gaming prop in LARP-style games.
Thanks in advance for any advice you decide to provide!

So where would I be likely to find such a plugin? I've done some Google searching and come up blank. I've also seached every location that I'm already aware of to find any sort of security plugin, and I haven't found anything that specifically mentions the kind of security that I'm looking for.

I've been trying everything I can think of to get the opie-securityplugin-pim to install, and so far I've had no success. I managed to get the package manager to find the Packages file on my CF card, and it tells me that it has been successful after I told it to install them. I can't find the executables or the icons for the games, however, so I'm disinclined to believe it.
Attempting the ipkg command from the terminal has been unsuccessful as well. When installing the pim using ipkg, it gives me an error, and says that it can't find the multiauth plugin, and is unable to access opie-security.
Any suggestions?
