Upgrading Shirt Pocket c860
« on: November 08, 2004, 09:41:08 am »
Has anyone tried and succeeded (or failed!) to upgrade a c860 bought from Shirt Pocket from the 1.30J ROM to the 1.40J ROM?

I am afraid Shirt Pocket themselves are not much help - I have asked them about this a couple of times over several months and got no replies (other than "we will look into it").

I *believe* that they modify the standard ROM to put in a new address book library, and new input method files. Can anyone confirm / deny that? Have I missed any other changes they make?

Assuming the above statement is correct, can anyone tell me if I can update the ROM, then put back the pieces which Shirt Pocket changed (assuming I make copies of them before updating the ROM)? One thing worrying me is that e.g. there might not be enough space in the ROM to do this, for example.

Any hints and tips people can give me on this score would be welcome (especially from the Shirt Pocket guys :-))

?  Get cacko 1.21b...

i thought that 1.40JP had very little updates... The Flash Rom has loads of room for updates btw....
Gorgeous C860, 256 Sandisk SD, 1Gig Pretec 40x CF, PDAIR leather case & the really cool retractable iPDA USB sync/charge cable. Powered by PDAXROM BETA 1.

My wish - to have a Command & Conquer style game on my Z! (FREECNC!!!) Simcity 2000 would also be great.

I was having some problems with an SD card, and there is some indication that the 1.40J ROM has got some tweaks for SD support.

Also, I put on the earlier mail upgrade, and I could free up a bit of space in the ROM.

Anyway, it is handy to note there's loads of space in the Flash ROM.
