wrath of cacko
« on: December 27, 2003, 11:23:27 pm »
Man oh man, I bet I am doing stupid;
several people have told me that they have
no problem running 3rd party apps on a c750
under the cacko rom, but to date I have had
little success. I _did_ get kino2 to run (nicely)
so I am pretty sure the machine itself is ok!
However, all sorts of simpler apps (like opie-reader)
completely flake out -- the portrait-mode screen
seems like it might be upside down -- the icons display
on the bottom of the screen (e.g., the input method icon)
but the _top_ of the screen seems to be where it is
sensitive (i.e., I can activate the keyboard by tapping near
the top of the screen).
But basically, it just hangs.
Maybe someone could describe a specific e-book reader
which they have gotten to work on a c750/cacko, then I could
try the same thing?
frustrated in NJ
Much appreciated ...

Hi

You haven\'t by chance tried out the X11 rom and then reflashed just the intrid.bin for the cacko 1.17 / 1.18. If you have it wont work as it causes some of the problems you mention above. You will need to reflash a std kernel.

Just a note, I\'ve been using both Opiereader and Justreader for some time, and they both admirably. As well, I\'ve been running all sorts of programs with Cacko 1.18 for quite some time (weeks) with no apparent problem. Make sure you a) are not using the X11 kernel (as Richjn noted), and  reformatted your flash ram after you flashed to the Cacko (make sure you backup your docs etc before doing this!).
