Dear all,

any ideas on why my backlight stopped working? I own my SL5500 for two years and a half, and everything was smooth with it - until the day before yesterday when I turned it on and my backlight was not working. I can see the screen under normal daylight, but that's it. any ideas on what happened? anybody experienced something like this?

I would like to know if something like this could be fixed  

got my c1000 but it would be great if I could keep my SL5500 for some specific things.

Sounds like it's not working anymore.  (sorry...obligatory stupid reply)

It can be fixed...rather, you can fix it if you can get your hands on a replacement.  The hardware's not too difficult to manipulate so long as you have a steady hand.

Before all that, you may want to check the diagnostic menu (D+P reset), which has a test for the backlight.

Uuhhh any idea where one might get a replacement? Mine's broken as well...

You could try to find out if sharp has a distributor for parts, but my best guess is trying to find a non-working Z on ebay.

I dont think you will ever find a replacement Backlight for a 5500!

They use a Frontlight instead, That info may help you find one.
