Secure Connection (tls) With Imap On Clean Install

OK, I received my zaurus today and I don't know what I'm doing

I know a bit of linux (I use gentoo on all my computers at home), but I'm still fairly new to the whole thing.

I would like to get the standard email client to work with my school email account. But it requires authentification (and TLS support). I don't get an option to use differnt servers.

I've searched the forums but the only thing I saw was to set up a different program and/or some kind of relay to the standard email client on the 6K already. I don't really want to do that and am not quite sure how anyway.

Could someone please help me out here? Thank you very much.

Someone has to have resolved this issue.

I tried to do my homework, searched through the forums for various ways of phrasing my problem. I haven't found a resolution yet.

How are you guys checking your IMAP accounts that need to connect securely?


This is very strange, hopefully I can resolve this because a zaurus that can't check email is just a...well I don't know what it is, but it ain't pretty!

I asked the same question many times and other people did so..
my school use imap4 + SSL and bunch of autheriation .( sigh.. carnge mellon double doulbe security)

I tried both kopiemail and qmail.. there is no way it will work.. i spent like several hours straight trying differenet combination

things i suggest you can do
1) if your school email can be browse throuhg broswer, use opera to get it
2) connect to unix server and download the file from there
3) install debian linux and thunrderbird.. i will be trying this after my finals are done.

FYI

I use OM/Pi with OpenSSL and it works fine doing IMAPS
