Fbvncserver From Cacko Feed
« on: January 22, 2005, 10:43:06 pm »
Has anyone successfully run the fbvncserver from the Cacko feed? It doesn't respond to the keyboard or mouse, no matter how I configure it.

Thanks.

Start the FB VNC server as root.

1.  Hold your stylus on the 'VNC server start' icon
2.  Check the box 'Execute with root privlege'
3.   Click OK.

If you already have the server running as the zaurus user kill it.  Then start the VNC server as root.

I have plans to put a new VNC package on the feed, but this one works.  Once I get through  helping maslovsky testing the lite ROM, processing the 70+ new packages for the feed, squashing some problems in other packages, Setting up some bug tracking system, and working 60+ hours a week, I'll look at updating the VNC package.

Yep, this was the second thing I tried before posting. Same result: no keyboard, no mouse.

OK, try rebooting your Z.  Then start the VNC server (as root of course).  Then point your desktop's web browser to http://<zaurus_ip>:5800 .  For example my zaurus's address is 192.168.1.102 So, I would open http://192.168.1.102:5800 and access the Java VNC client.  I have not tested the included VNC server with any of the VNC clients, but you do not need a client with the included applet.

Hope this fixes things for you.

I could only see the screen, no input, but once I ticked the 'run as root' box it started to work ok.
Takes a second or so to update the screen etc though.
