Media player problem

I just began using my 5500 as an MP3 player, and now I\'m sad. When I open the MediaPlayer and click to \"open\" a file, the program crashes. When I finish listening to a song and the MediaPlayer automatically closes, I cannot eject the cf card because it is \"busy.\" If I listen to a song an the MediaPlayer closes, opening the MediaPlayer wiill crash my Z (although clicking on another song is no problem). My conclusion: the media player that comes with SharpROM is a peas of sheet.  :evil:

Can someone recommend a quality media player? Is tkc worth the $10? How do I get Xine on here? It seems like I have a million media players on my Linux machine...there must be a few out there for Z.

Or, maybe this is just my cf card. It\'s a 256 Mr. Flash card, and there are 240 mb of MP3s on there. Maybe this is too much for my Z? I have noticed if I reboot with the card in it takes a few minutes...literally.

I think Opie-mediaplasyer2 is based on Xine. It works fine for me (using OZ). It\'s probably also possible to get it working on a Sharp ROM if you have the patience.

mplayer works fine on both OZ and Sharp ROMs, etc.

Um, I have just started trying to use my 5600 as an ogg player, and now I'm sad, too. It plays a few tracks, then crashes and takes the playlist with it. Bought the tckPlayer, it crashes a second or two into scanning for tracks. Something seems fundamentally wrong... Does anyone have a clue?

Without paying, you can make use of mplayer from Kino version0.22 at http://my-zaurus.narod.ru/kino.html.  After installing, ignore the visual kino2 as it does not work on my SL-5600 with original Sharp ROM. Use terminal to activate mplayer.

Another alternative will be using vlc mediaplayer.

However, I strongly recommend to purchase tkcPlayer as it is well written and user-friendly. I have been using it for the past 9 months after numerous failed attempts to intall Opie Mediaplayer.

I'm also using mplayer as installed by Kino2 (freizugheit above) on my 5600 with OZ352.

It works well from the command line, but you have to learn about mplayer to use all the options, and there are plenty of them!! But it seems to be able to handle most types of media files very well...

I couldn't get opie-mediaplayer to work at all.

I also tried XMMS and still have that installed, it works ok for some things.

I think both Kino2 and XMMS use mplayer anyway when they find something they can't handle, so you might as well bypass them and start using mplayer from the start...
