Cacko 1.22 And Aircable Bluetooth
« on: January 07, 2005, 03:03:19 pm »
Hi @ All,

First of all, sorry for the bad english

My problem is the following:

The Cacko Rom works really fine, only my Bluetooth Connection
won´t function, i have no idea what to do against it otherwise than
posting it here.

And my BT-Device is not a "normal" BT CF-Card, its a serial Connection,
leaving CF- and SD-Slots free for use. That´s where the problem hide´s
i think...

Here ( Link )
you can get a view on it, maybe someone got one of these, too.

If you first need some outputs from my Zaurus, please tell me how to get them
out of the Z and i will provide you asap with the needed Informations.

thx a lot for any hints,
Nico

How did you set your connection up?

I have an Aircable BT and use it with Cacko 1.22 every day no prob from day 1. Didn't have to do any tweaking too...

Man, I'd love to get some instructions from you on how you got this working with 1.22 Cacko.  I've tried everything I know and can't get it going.  I do have my Socket card working fine with my Motorola Timeport 270C, but no joy from the AirCable, which I'd greatly prefer to use.  Much better battery life with it and still have my other cards (typically I have a 4Gb drive card and a 1 Gb SD card) that are in it all the time.

I'd really appreciate some step-by-step how to's if you've got a minute.

OK, this assumes you don't have any infrared connections set up. If you do, delete them now and recreate them after the Aircable works. This'll make things easier.

Then:

I had problems pairing the Zaurus Aircable with my bluetooth cellphone right out of the box.

So this is what I figured out you need to do to set it up:

When I inserted it into the Zaurus, the blue light on the Aircable would blink only once, i.e. wouldn't look for a pairing device. Even when I pressed the reset button on the Aircable it would only blink, whereas it should start flashing.

Turns out when no process opens the serial port, the Aircable goes into suspend mode.

What I had to do was type:

Code: [Select]
'''stty 115200 raw
then press and hold the button for five seconds. It goes into slave mode this way, then you press it shortly once again, and it goes into a master service mode and starts looking for a device to pair.

Then it will find your phone and you won't have problems making it pair.

Then
  • From the Home Page, go to the Settings Tab.
  • Select Network
  • From the picklist, select Dial-up-PPP
  • Select Add then IrDA
  • Enter Name for this connection, i.e. AirCable BT
  • Enter phone number for Dialup accounts, this should be *99***1#
  • Select OK to Save the settings.
  • Bring up a terminal window and log in as root (type su at command prompt and enter password if necessary)
  • cd /etc/ppp/peers
  • There will be one file starting with a capital I
  • Edit the file by typing vi filename
  • At the very begining of the file, enter a new line: /dev/ttyS0 (That is Capital S then Zero not letter O)
  • Locate the line that begins
    connect '/usr/sbin/chat
    Change it to:
    connect '/usr/sbin/chat -s -v -t 60 ABORT "NO CARRIER" ABORT "NO DIALTONE" ABORT "BUSY" "" "\\d\\d\\d\\d\\dAT" OK "ATDT*99***1#" CONNECT "\\d\\d"'
  • Add a line at the end of the file
    idle 300
to prevent the Aircable from switching off very soon when not connecting.
  • Now you can either specifically connect to the network and then run the appropriate application, or in some cases simply launch the application and it will ask if you want to connect when appropriate.
  • To connect manually :
  • Make sure bluetooth is switched on on your phone.
  • Connect your Aircable to the Zaurus.
  • On the task bar at the bottom of the screen, tap the world icon
  • Select the appropriate connection and then Connect.
That's it, it should now work no prob.

Thanks rehorrericha, I'll give this a try and report back.  I got all excited when I saw that you got it working with "no tweaks".  I guess I need to bone up on my nomenclature, this sure looks like a lot of tweaks to me !

Yeah, I guess I meant to say, no additional tweaks - referring to what I had to do in Cacko 1.21b.

I had to do a lotta fiddlin' around though to figure out the complete above steps in 1.21b and they became automatic. So now it's very easy, I can do it from memory...

I need to some help to figure out what I'm missing in trying to get my Z to work with Aircable BT and Nokia 6310i. I've flashed CackoQT 122 and I can pair with my phone but I can't initate a dial up connection. I've added "/dev/ttyS" to the beginning of the file for the IRDA connection and altered the connect line to this
Quote
connect '/usr/sbin/chat -s -v -t 60 ABORT "NO CARRIER" ABORT "NO DIALTONE" ABORT "BUSY" "" "\\d\\d\\d\\d\\dAT" OK "ATDT00448451232000" CONNECT "\\d\\d"'
I get  the following error trying to connect - "Connect script failed."
What am I missing ?

SL-C860|CackoQT 1.2.2 or pdaxrom 1.1.0|256CF Maxell|512 SD Lexar|Aircable BT|Piel Frama Case

The first line should be /dev/ttyS0 not /dev/ttyS

Also, are you connecting to the Web through GPRS on your phone, or GSM dial-up?

If GPRS, this line must be
Code: [Select]
connect '/usr/sbin/chat -s -v -t 60 ABORT "NO CARRIER" ABORT "NO DIALTONE" ABORT "BUSY" "" "\\d\\d\\d\\d\\dAT" OK "ATDT*99***1#" CONNECT "\\d\\d"'
If Dial-up, then you should enter the number to dial etc when you create the IRDA connection from the Network tab, then only add the /dev/ttyS0 and don't edit the connect... line...

First, thx for the detailed answer @rehorrericha

I tried that, but i´m already getting no connection at last.

a )  if i enter "'''stty 115200 raw </dev/ttyS0; cat /dev/ttyS0 &'''", it prompts
"no such file or directory". What have i done wrong?
b )  if i do the reset, the blue LED blinks for ca. 15sec, meanwhile i can find
my Z via PC and Handy and save the connection, but i cant pair them. For
this i had to enter a PIN (i.e. 1234), but the AirCable shuts off after this
time anyway what i enter... (tried 0000, 1234 and such...)

At First i want to use BT as a Network-Connection for simply sending and
receiving data (word-docs, pics and such), later for Internet-use (just read
this is called "PAN"  ). NAT on my WinXP-PC is already there, ICS is working
(i just was online with pdaXrom this morning  ). What must i do for this?

Any hint/help appreciated,
Nico
