C3000...ps/2 & Usb Combo Hub
« on: May 06, 2005, 12:44:28 pm »
I've been along time reader of these forums for about a year now and recently I have ordered a C3000 from Conics.  The device will be here in about a week and I wanted to get some accessories together while I wait.

Im good with linux and it has been my sole OS for a while now.

I'm interested in using my mini ps/2 keyboard with my Z to take notes in class, and I was looking at a ps/2 female to usb-A male adaptor with the mini-a adaptor that Conics supplies.  Then I came across this device (which is also a hub).

http://www.usbmax.com/USBG-HSB3PS_3_Ports_..._Computers_.cfm

This is just an example.  I've see others that have a similar function...a usb hub with a ps/2 port on it

Im wondering if anyone has any luck using this sort of device with a Z.  It should work if its usb HID compliant?

It should theoretically work. I've never tried a PS/2->USB adapter, but apparently compatibility is spotty.

Thanks for the quick response.  I've heard the same thing from friends about the spotty operation of the ps/2 to usb adaptors.  But after some google-ing I found a japanese site that a person used a 760 with the Ratoc usb CF and got the keyboard+mouse type usb cable to work.

here is the article untranslated if you prefer a different translation

I think ill take the risk and get one.  They are cheap, and if it doesnt work ill find some other use for it.  I could find another mini usb keyboard but what is the fun in that.

Just wanted to let you know that I used this adapter
[a href=\"http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_results.phtml?product_id=0157389]http://www.microcenter.com/single_product_...duct_id=0157389[/url]
and it works with my ps2 keyboard and mouse at the same time.  I do use another USB cable to convert it to mini A for Zaurus.

SL-C3100 (from PriceJapan.com): modified Sharp Rom (couldn't make Japanese input work in Cacko Rom)
