Oz Gpe 3.5.3 On Sl5600(pxa250) - Poodle
« on: May 11, 2005, 08:49:19 pm »
Hi ...  I am convinced to take test the GPE 3.5.3

Its a lot faster and the on/off suspend works. I can live with some of the bugs so far ...
eg ...
Control panel does not start ... and Package manager crash (seems to reports out of memory!)

By the way, where do I get the 2.6.x  Kernel for Poodle(250)?   Might as well try that all.
I saw the kernel upgrades in the feed but it seems its only for the C7xx models.

Going to try out OE ... if time allows

Thanks!!

Ok ... forget about the 2.6 Kernel part ...
I have done my reading ... and I need SD support

And for the package manager to work, just log in as root instead.

I have tried the PXA255 Kernel on my 250. No Major issues so far. I dont use the wifi now. Instead, I use a CF ethernet. Works fine.

The center button for the directional keys and the home button does not work ... (yet??)    I need more time to explore.

I must say its more usable then the 3.5.2 !!

How do I specify in the package manager where my install destination should be? In the sharp ROM, I can choose RAM or my SD.

Besides that, if I use ipkg, can I specify it too?

Thanks!  Sooooo  many questions from me!!

and it seems that the main menu's (for ROM upgrade) ... format, Check ... does not work for OZ??

So I have to manually dele /home entries for the 5600, which has some files from the last ROM.

Found out about ipkg-link. Interesting!

So I guess the package manage by default can only install on to root, rite?
If i do it manually, I can specify it to /mnt/card ... and use ipkg-ling to manually link it to root. Am I right?

Kernel 2.6 for poodle is under construction and not usable for end users yet. You can build it with OE, if you want to help finishing it.

The package manager can install to whatever destination is in /etc/ipkg.conf

You can link using ipkg-link. In the future we will hopefully have a better way using unionfs.
