Opie-camera Problems
« on: April 28, 2005, 01:35:24 pm »
I don't know if this is an OZ problem, but it worked for me under 3.5.2.

I've installed ope-camera () & Mickeyl's sharp-camera-support_2.4.18-rmk7-pxa3-embedix-r4_poodle.ipk from vanille.de. The problems are is that I can't snap images at greater than 320x240 or the image gets repeated/duplicated several times in the file (I can post an example if desired). As well, I can't take more than one picture without manually changing the prefix. The first gets name 'name-1.jpg', but it doesn't create a 'name-2.jpg', etc. If I change the prefix to 'newname' I then will get 'newname-1.jpg', for example.

Anybody else having similar problems? thks

Just out of curiousity (and because due to the total lack of responses I can only assume that noone else is experiencing any problems), which problem do you mean, the resolution or the prefix? Or do you mean you're experiencing both? thks

I think it's just that very few people have the camera.

From memory, mickeyl does have one, and has commented that some of the strange behaviour is a problem with Sharp's binary only kernel module for the camera.

I'm not sure about the naming issues, as one would have thought that these were to do with opie-camera itself.

And I use it only rarely myself, so it's not as if it's a daily annoyance.

That doesn't surprise me. There's a few hardware issues that haven't been solved because Sharps' closed source, right?

That's what I would have thought, but I didn't know whether there's been a new version since I used it in 3.5.2. I'd flash back & try it out, but I've got my setup 'just so' & can't afford that kind of time right now.

Thanks for the reply, lardman.
