X/qt Installation Problem On C3000
« on: June 18, 2005, 10:54:25 am »
Hi All,

I am trying to install X/Qt onto my C3000 based on the instructions of Meanie's  "C3000 Customisations" webpage (http://www.users.on.net/~hluc/myZaurus/custom.html).

My Zaurus runs the Cacko ROM (SLC3Kb1).

I have two problems regarding the X/Qt install:

1) I can't find the libgcc1-zaurus_3.2.2-0_arm.ipk file anywhere on the net. I tried to install an other arm libgcc1 package but the package manager didn't even list it. Could anybody send it to me or attach it to this topic?

2) Pango doesn't get installed (the package manager says there was a problem with it and it shows it uninstalled). It may be a dependency to libgcc1. I tried to install pango_1.4.1_arm.ipk.

The interesting thing is that the Start X icon works, and displays the X desktop with a terminal.

I appreciate any help,
Andras

Thanks a lot for the libgcc package. I could install it in order.

The problem with Pango seems to be independent from this because ipkg still says there  was a problem during its installation. Meanie's page says it is required for a lot of programs.

Has anybody have any problem with installing Pango?

actually, pango is only really required for email stuff, ie mozilla, minimo and thunderbird. firefox does not need it since its a web browser only.

I might have to remove my website soon because I will be too busy to maintain it

Hi Meanie,

I hope not... Your website is a reference for the C3000 since so little strutured information exists in the web.

I sugest, if its hard to maintain, to change the content of the site to a blog, or something like that... it's a lot easy to maintain... There are lot's of available free blogs around...

Continue the good work!
