If I were to create a tarball of a bitkeeper repository on one computer, could I then extract it on another and still use it (update the files in it, etc.)?

That should be possible, however IIRC you\'re not allowed to change the path to the repository. Bitkeeper stores all informationen in the tree in the Bitkeeper and SCCS directories.
