Small update, almost done, however, I've lost the MAX787s.

Or you could heatsink it to the case!!

Actually, the typical fanless configuration for this power of processor would be larger and heavier than what I have now, even moreso for what should be arriving soon. A passively cooled Via Eden (very simular to C3) passively cooled processor generally has a heatsink nearly as big as the motherboard itself and at least 3/4" tall.

At least at first, I'll probably make it more tablet like later on.

Yeah, it's not turning out as small as I'd hoped. I might build a custom case later on, and that should cut down on the overall size. Fairly hard to build a custom case before you know all the sizes of all the parts.

If I manage to get ahold of some money to re-do the project, I think I'll hunt down a 3.5" biscuit Pentium-M board. That'd cut down on the power consumption as well as well as the size (currently using a 5.25" board). Unfortunately, those kind of boards typically cost in excess of $600, so I may never get around to re-making it.

Have you considered seeking sponsership ?

You might try contacting the manufacturers of some of these higher end parts you're interested in and see if they'd hook you up with some gratis parts in exchange for a small ad on your website.

I know this might feel like 'selling out' to some, but I personally don't see anything wrong with giving a shout out for a product that has performed well, or for a company that produces quality stuff and treats people right.

I mean what's the worst that can happen...they say 'NO' ?

Just a thought...
