Powered Hd?

I have searched and found outside references on this forum that people have used ipod minis and such, with the C1000 as the host. Has anyone done this personally?

I am in Japan and am presently trying to choose between the c1000 and the c3000, mostly because I need a replacement Japanese dictionary, but with all aof the added benefits that the Z's give us, I want to make the right choice.

I currently have a Iriver h120, 20 gig mp3 player, and since it has its own power was wondering if I could hook it up to the c1000 as at least one post has led me to believe is possible.

To be clear, I have seen that many resellers give a host cable with the device, but I want to make sure that this is for more than just using an external keyboard etc..

Thanks!

Sorry I don't have any answers for you.  ButI have a question myself.

How much do those two Zaurus cost there in Japan.  I just want to know how much cheaper it is to buy them while I'm over there next year.

I asked similar questions in the past (it may have been my thread that you read). It seemed to me that while there wasn't really any consensus as to what devices worked, it certainly is true that USB mass storage devices in general should work with a Zaurus that has USB host functionality. The main question is whether they will work without being plugged in (only running off their own internal battery, or off the Zaurus' battery). That seems to be something that you just have to try. You should also know that this kind of thing isn't really supported by Sharp and so isn't generally "plug and play" -- at the very least you would probably have to mount the device in the terminal, and you might need to do more involved troubleshooting. Although I believe there is a package available that is supposed to automatically mount USB hard drives.

It depends a lot on where you will be. If you won't be able to go to places like Akihabara (and if you can't order from Japanese stores over the phone or online), you might actually find that it's cheaper to get the Zaurus somewhere like PriceJapan. Major electronics stores often don't discount very much, although they will often give you "points" that you can use to buy other things in the store.

if I recall correctly, PJ also offer a shopping service, where you pre-order the item, tell them which hotel you will be staying in, and they will deliver it to you...
