I've seen usb host adaptor (CF card):

Have one of you tried this card?
Can I plug a 8-1 lexar cradle to it n an external usb hd?

Tricky questions hehe!
thanks

AFAIK, that particular adapter doesn't exist. There are, however, people have used the Ratoc USB host CF. Do a search for it. Should be pretty much universal to all models of Z.

Do you think it's possible to connect an external hd n a  Cf cradle?
I would like to transfer data from my digicam Cf to a backup 40Gb HD.

Thanks

Should be possible (I've connected a usb-key mass storage thing), but you'll obviously need a hub to use them together and you'll need external power for the hard disk (either direct, or via an powered external hub - which is what I use).

Ya, that's why I'm looking something like a powered dual usb host.

It doesn't exist though, as Tom61 said.

You'll need a powered USB hub and a USB CF reader in addition to the Ratoc card, but it should work. There's a really small USB hub that isn't much bigger than a CF card, and a USB CF card reader that's like a thumbdrive, that would make a nice portable solution. You'll probably need an external power source to transfer files to the harddrive, but may be a small issue, depending on where you're at.

Though, at around $130 for the USB card, $30 for the hub, and $20 for the CF reader, you might want to consider just moving up to a Z with integrated USB host.

There are mobile HDs that can be supplied directly from the 6K, and the hub and CF reader would no longer be needed and so won't be  taking power.

Though, for his uses, it might not matter anyway. If he takes photos in the field, then heads to his hotel room or car to transfer the pics to the HD there, he'd have a ready source of power. Also, there's a variety of small battery packs that are intended to recharge devices that could be used on the go to power the HD instead. (i.e. the Pelican PSP Power Brick, and various USB AA power packs)

Hi, I just got my first zaurus. It's a poodle and I got the ratoc to plug an external HD.
When I plug the ratoc card, I get the CF icon @ the buttom but I' not able to load the mass storage mod. Actually, I don't have the mod.
Is there's a procedure for the poodle to load mass storage mod (and one which is hot swap would be nice)
Thanks
