Compiling Kernel For Sl-5500
« on: October 26, 2005, 01:41:32 am »
I am new to the development in PDAs. We are trying to compile the 2.4 kernel (along with cpuFreq support) for the SL-5500.

We used the kernel source from OESF website and used the following build procedure listed in  https://www.oesf.org/index.php?title=Compil...ring_the_source.

We flashed the ROM with our kernel and the initrd.bin taken from OpenZaurus website. But the PDA just hangs. If we do the same thing using precompiled kernel taken from OpenZaurus website, everything is fine.

Do we always need to use the build procedure mentioned in "open Embedded" to compile the kernel for Sharp PDAs. We find it very difficult following the build procedure mentioned in OE website. Is that the ultimate build procedure ?

2.4-crapix kernels have so many patches that using OE is one of easiest way. Anyway I would not patch it more as different things can happen with all those Sharp/Lineo changes in so many places.
