C31k Wifi Troubles
« on: December 01, 2005, 04:59:41 am »
I've got a c3100 running Cacko 1.23 I had no success getting the SanDisk Connect Plus card I have work so I bought a Symbol spectrum24, which Cacko is supposed to handle without any tweaking. No matter what I do I can't get the symbol to connect though. I've put all the network settings in and triple checked them but when I choose connect the light on the card flashes and the it says initilizing but it eventially times out and says network offline. I've tried with and without WEP, Open System, Shared Key on both the Z and my wireless routing but still nothing. I can connect to the router using WEP with my iBook, so I now that part works.

The following from dmesg does not seem to reveal much for me to look at but some of you might pick up on something.

In file /etc/pcmcia/spectrum.conf, change class to "hostap", restart pcmcia or reboot and be happy.

I have a Symbol spectrum24 card myself and it works. I think it's still a configuration problem

Did you changed file /etc/pcmcia/spectrum.conf like me?

sidmoraes your sig says you're using the Sharp ROM. I'm using the Cacko ROM, if you're using Cacko too, did you need to make this change as well? maslovsky you probably know that answer to that as well. By configuration problem do you mean in the Wifi settings that I'm using?

Ok I tried the suggestion of changing the class to hostap and nothing changed (kill -HUP cardmgr twice to make sure it picked up the config change). I ran KisMAC on my iBook whilst the Zaurus was trying to connect to the access point. It saw it so the card (attached picture are the details) seems to be at least partially working, it still won't connect though. It won't connect to an ad-hoc network created on the iBook either. Any other ideas?
