Dns And Gprs Problem
« on: February 20, 2006, 04:34:24 pm »
With previous installs, I've always had a straightforward, functioning setup for dialing T-Mobile GPRS (auto everything, including DNS).  Although I've had this ROM installed for quite a while now, I usually use Wifi and only recently noticed that I can't use GPRS.  I can ping IP addresses and resolve websites that way, but DNS just isn't working.  I've tried manually entering various known T-Mobile DNS entries and I still consistently fail

Does anyone have a trick for getting this to work?  Was something changed between OZ 3.5.2 and 3.5.3 with regards to how PPP grabs DNS settings?  Is there a log or conf file I can look at for more clues?

Also, I can use the same phone with a Windows PC and dial out just fine (all auto settings).

What T-mobile internet plan do you subscribe to? Are you using IR, bluetooth or a GPRS card? Are you using the command-line or graphical networking tools?

I have been able to successfully use the $5/month T-zones GPRS via bluetooth to my Nokia phone with the following settings:
APN: wap.voicestream.com
Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080
DNS: 66.94.25.120
        66.94.9.120
Zaurus SL-C3000
Zonet 802.11g USB (ZEW2501) --> Zydas ZD1211
IOGear Bluetooth USB (GBU211) --> Broadcom BCM2035
OpenZaurus 3.5.4.1 / GPE 2.7

IR with a Sony Ericsson K750i on the $20 plan.  Of course, today I happened to not carry my Z, but those DNS settings look different from all the different ones I've tried before, so that's the first thing I'm trying when I get home; thanks!
