I have just struggled half a day to try to get Kismet to work on my C1000 with no luck. I have it running on both of my sl-5500's. Why should this be such a struggle?
Is there anybody out there who knows how to simplify the installation of this utility?
Meanie's install is way too complicated and for some reason throws flite into the mix. When I changed the lines in the kismet.conf for source, it started to fail completely. I have a Belkin wifi card that works with "source=prism2_legacy,eth0,Kismet" perfectly on my collie. And does the user have to be changed to Zaurus? suiduser=root works fine on my sl-5500.
The ipks on my collie are kismet 2.60 and kismet-qt 1.4.0. I couldn't find the old 2.6.0 Kismet ipk anywhere to try it on my akita. :-(
Also, that kismet ipk file he says to download opens up a terminal with the desktop icon...what kind of nonsense is that?
I guess you can tell my nerves are frayed after 6 hours of dealing with Kismet. :-)
(On the bright side, I did get Doom working yesterday!)
C3100 bought about 2 weeks ago with the standard Sharp ROM.
I have an Ambicon WL1100C-CF with which I can connect to my own network.
I have spent a morning discovering that Wellenreiter won't work for me. I've seen various post which seem to group people into two groups - those that can run Wellenreiter with no trouble and those that can't get it to work at all. I'm in the latter group.
I have a problem which others seem to have - that is to say in the first tab of the config window the 'Name' field is blank. The following field, if my memory is right, is 'wg-lan'. I followed Meanie's instructions for setting this up.
I thought then that I'd try Kismet and installed, again following Meanie's instructions, but it couldn't find libpcap.so.1 and wouldn't run. Yes I did set up the link as instructed.
So I'm stumped. Any updates on these problems?
UPDATE: I've just realised that the Wellenreiter ipk I used is wellenreiter_1.0.2-sl-c7x0-7_arm.ipk from the ZUG feed and is the only one I could find. Meanie suggests opie-wellenreiter_1.0.2.1-20031220_arm.ipk. Can anyone tell me where I might get a copy of this?
