I would like to know if you put a wifi card into a PC with a slot and it has no antenna just connected to a dsl or lan modem through cables and can you still do wireless networking without a Access Point??

[Edit by Foxdie to merge posts so there\'s no flood of posts on WiFi]

Sorry for asking this question over and over again but I would like to know exactly how things work for the AD HOC but if you can can you explain it simply but specifically???

It is bascily for doing p2p.  Such as my T:c (Palm) has bulit in wifi I can config my laptop in adhoc mode and sync in betwen my palm and windows (havent treyed it under linux).  The only time I have ever found a use for it is if I dont have access to an AP.

You want to use a ADHOC mode wifi card in a pc as a gateway.  Yes that is posable, I have nerver done that; and windows is a pain to set up as a gateway.  And you should note that not all wifi cards are able to enter adhoc mode.

Edit: You can use a proxy server under windows to set it up as a gateway.  Dont know of any off hand, its been a few years since I have done any thing with a proxy under windows.
