Av700 Mencoder Settings
« on: September 12, 2006, 10:16:22 am »
What settings should I use with mencoder to convert videos to play on the AV700? I've been using mencoder to convert videos for the Zaurus but they don't look so good on the Archos.

Thanks

I can not help but you might look at www.avsforums.com

I have an issue trying to go the other way - from the .ts files on the Archos to mpeg or avi files. I have not found anything easy yet.

Thanks for the tip. I'll look at avsforums.

I've recorded from a VHS tape to the Archos and got a .avi file that plays on anything and used mencoder with the standard settings for the Zaurus found on this forum to get a file that plays well on the Zaurus. Is .ts files what you get when recording a DVD? In that case they have DRM and mencoder alone won't remove that. I don't think the Archos is a practical way of ripping DVDs.

p.s. www.avsforums.com doesn't seem to exist.

try [a href=\"http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=8438731#post8438731]http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread....731#post8438731[/url]

PS I have just decided to give up on moving between different media types and stick to the Archos for TV, my DVD for FVD's and the Media Player for storage.
