Editing On Archos Av 500

Does anyone know why I can't seem to edit any video files when my AV500 is connected to the pc as a media device? It won't let me move the files either.  The only thing i can do it copy to my pc.  I know I can edit if i change the device to hard drive but shouldn't i be able to do so as a media device???

I really don't think you can do video editing while connected to a PC in any of the 2 mode. Please elaborate.
