Charging Causes Av500 To Switch On - Normal ?

Hi,

nice to finally find a forum for this excellent device.

I have a question: When I plug the power pack into my archos it immediately switches on and can't be properly turned off - it appears to just black the screen. Is this normal ?

Also when running from the power pack, the archos is very unstable if I touch it. I guess it's an earth problem. I get static pops, glitches in the sound/video and eventual hangups. Only if I touch the case though. I've been in touch with archos and received a replacement power pack and it does the same. If I use a third party power pack, all is fine (except for switching on as above) so I think the powerp ack is at fault.

Anyone else have these issues ?

matt, it is normal for the av500 to turn on while charging. the blacking of the screen you mentioned is the pvp going into standby mode.
as for your other question, by power pack do you mean battery, or something else?

Seems odd that just plugging in the charger should switch on the device, but there you go. Whne the screen blacks it is much quicker than when I shut it down. What do you mean by standby mode? Don't think I've heard about that one.

By power pack I meant the charger. When I use the AV500 while connected to the charger it is unstable if I touch it. If I try to adjust the volume or chage tracks, use the menus etc this can result in screen corruption, skips in the music or total hangup. I think it must be an earth problem. If I use a third party charger all is fine however so I suspect Archos are supplying cheap'n'cheerful chargers that don't do the job properly. I've had 3 of them from Archos support and they all do the same.

Hi.

I've just purchased AV560 and been playing with it all day. Decided to charge it and while trying to play a song it corrupted loads of my song titles.

Is there any fix for this?
