Feel free to comment if you own a C1K or greater as to why you love that particular model............... oh how I wish there was built in Wi-Fi/Bluetooth/GPS PLUS Compact flash , USB and SD built in... my decision would be sooooo easy..... but I guess I am never happy......

Coming from a 5500 was a huge difference.  Since I'm not  a programmer and more of a power user the C1K has been effective with its screen resolution and killer apps.  Things like Korganizer is great to schedule my appointments, keep track of clients, and check my todo list (something thats hard with a 320x240 resolution for the screen).  With a 1G SD card and Cacko's build running the SNES emulator with overclocking and a huge swap space makes average people envy when I show them a Castlevania game.

The clamshell mode has saved my screen a lot.  So Sony's new device might be dificult for me to go to.  Clamshells are key.
C1000 w/...  Cacko Lite (When I use the Z alot for business)... pdaXrom (when I see something cool and want to try it.  Best way for me to learn shell commands)

Are you satisfied with the SNES emulation on your C1000?  SNES is one of the things I use all of the time on my Tapwave Zodiac and I was hoping that the Zaurus would be able to to it as well.  Thanks for any info...

Just an observation which is more like a generalisation, but people who want just a PDA generally prefer the C1000 and people who want a mini laptop usually prefer the C3x00.
SL-C3000 - pdaXii13 build5.4.9 (based on pdaXrom beta3) / SL-C3100 - Sharp ROM 1.02 JP (heavily customised)

Can somebody explain to me why the USB host capability is so useful?
I use the usb host for: flash keys, my mp3 player (has 5MB hdd so extra storage for my Z!), digital camera, ethernet adaptor, BT dongle, and for fun even my ancient webcam. I hardly ever need to use all of them at the same time and they all work without the need for a powered hub. So it's more than cool, it's extremely useful and pretty essential (for me).

I am also using usb/serial adapter ... It is good to not carry notebook if i want to configure some device (i.e cisco router) through serial ....

Apart from USB host the only diff beteen C860 and C1000 are CPU & battery. Or are there any other diff?

Yes there are ... C7xx,860 has ATI gfx card while C1000,3x00 is using internal PXA270 overlay framebuffer, next there are more keys on internal keyboard and of course in C3x00 models is main advantage internal CF slot where you have default 4/6GB microdrive but you can use it for any CF accessories (after break warranty :-))

I would rate 'battery' as the strongest reason to get a C1000/C3x00 over a C860.
Rather... battery age.

as Stu says:

The real reson that the C1000 is better than the C860 is that Sharp aren't making the C860 anymore.

Any C760/C860 you are going to find, will have a 2-year old battery, at least. Even a used C1000 is probably going to have a fresher one,
and I'd still advise buying a new unit to be safe. cpu, usb, keyboard, are all better with the newer models, but battery age will determine how much use you'll get out of it, until the Zaurus perishes.

(In general, batteries for newer models are electrically compatible with older models; but they are larger, and don't tend to fit-
so getting a new battery for an old unit may not be practicable)

The usb port gives me instant access to my usb 80 gig hard drive.  I use my Z for work and it is important to back up my data somewhere besides the Z.  This does it for me.

Using cresho's package of apps the SNES, NES, and Turbo Grafix 16 emulator works sweet.  I wish a Playstation emu worked with Cacko's ROM but seems like it's only working with Xrom.  Meanie can you confirm this?

I wouldn't say that is the strongest reason as you can buy batteries separately.

There also seems to be a design flaw in the 760/860.  Not all, but I assume a small portion of those clamshells lose sound due to issues with the PC board.  The newer clamshells have not shown any signs of this problem (though it took over a year for my 760 to have problems) so far.
