Getting Mplayer to Play Smoothly on 5600
« on: February 11, 2004, 02:36:30 pm »
Ok, here\'s the deal...

I\'m trying to be cheap and don\'t want to buy the Dr. Z Video Player, so I\"m trying to get mplayer to work.   While I\"m not too much a fan of running things from CLI that could be run from a GUI, I\'m willing to deal with it.  I\'ve tried switches (e.g. -autosync, -cache 8192, -nobps) and the file I\'m trying to play (an DivX encoded AVI I downloaded off the net, which plays fine on both my laptop and my makeshift media pc) is out of sync with the audio when I play it back on the Z.

Has anyone had this problem, and if so, how did you fix it?
- Joe

Handheld: SL-5600 (PXA-255), OZ 3.3.5 build 3 (Unstable), 512 MB SanDisk CF, 512 MB SanDisk SD

\"But while there are so many things that *are*, there are so many more things that *aren\'t*, and if I tried to deny all the things that *aren\'t* then I\'d hardly have any time at all for anything that *is*, would I?\" - JMS

Which CPU do you have in your 5600? The PXA250 performs really poorly at video playback unless you use a kernel with the PXA250 cache bug workaround turned off.
