Kismet Strings

How do you use the Kismet Strings tab of the Kismet GUI program?  I installed Kismet 3.0.1 with my SanDisk wifi card and the new Cacko ROM (1.20 dated March 5).  I also installed the Kismet qt GUI program which I am running as root.  Kismet seems to work fine and finds all the wireless APs.  However, when I press the Run button on the Kismet Strings screen tab I never see anything.  I have read on other sites that you are supposed to see certain captured packets.  How should it work and how do I make it work?  Thanks.

The \"strings\" function only displays output if there is plaintext data in the air, management frames do not produce them (as far as Kismet is concerned.)  Unless wireless clients actively doing something, there won\'t be any printable strings. If You\'re surfing the web or running PTP clients on your AP, you\'ll get an eyefull.
