Converting US SL-5600 -> JP spec
« on: October 11, 2003, 01:24:14 pm »
Hi all,

First, I\'m a newbie here, looking to start development etc on Zaurus platform.

I\'m a native Japanese in US, and I am looking to use 5600 for my personal use as well as developing data acquisition applications on it. I have no problem developing with the US model, but for my personal use, I want the Japanese language and apps on it. (unfortunately, I don\'t have travel plans for at least a year or so...)

I\'ve seen many tips for getting English menus on Japanese B500 and C7xx, but have not seen the other way around. My (ignorant) thought was that simply using 1.50JP ROM (from Sharp Space Town website) would do, but it says that Qt/Em and Qtopia are not included. So...

1) Would flashing available 1.50JP ROM on 5600 give all the needed Japanese support and all the Qtopia apps will adjust?

2) I\'m also guessing the included applications are different from US to JP models?

3) Are Qt/Em and Qtopia different for US and JP markets?

Any thoughts? I would appreciate any input that you may have. Thanks in advance!!!

Thanks for anyone who read this and thought about it... I realize that this was a rather unlikely question to come by...

Well, I\'ve decided to go with an untouched import C760 :-) Perhaps I can contribute to un-translated portions of the system for other users.

You won\'t be disappointed with the 760!  It\'s an amazing unit... the screen, the memory... everything.  I barely use my 5500 since I got my 760.

best of luck!
