I have spent the better part of the afternoon trying to figure out why the icon in "xarchiver_0.3.1_armv5tel.ipk" doesn't appear on the "Start" menu in pdaxii13.
I don't need anything else on my desktop, thus I wanted this on the start menu only.
I don't have meanie's full version installed, (which includes Xarchiver). I installed the ipk separately.
It installs to /usr/local/ So I thought that was the problem.
I checked the spelling and everything else that can be wrong with a .desktop file.
I finally found it after looking at it many times.
There is a blank line at the beginning of the .desktop file
Once I removed this blank line, the icon appeared in my start menu.
Off topic a little. When comparing some .desktop files, I found an error in the .desktop file in "sdictviewer_0.4.0_armv5tel.ipk"
Icon=sdictviewer
should be
Icon=sdictviewer.png
