Usb Connection With Suse 9.0
« on: January 03, 2005, 06:33:24 am »
hello,

i searched the forum and did some google, without successful hints. before i
connected a sl5500g without any problems with suse 9.0, so i tried to modify
the configuration. here is what i did:

1. added the following lines in /etc/hotplug/blacklist:
# Sharp Zaurus 6000L
CDCEther
acm

2. added the following lines in /etc/hotplug/usb.handmaps:
# Sharp Zaurus 6000L
usbnet 0x0003 0x04dd 0x9032 0x0000 0x0000 0x02 0x00 0x00 0x02 0x06 0x00 0x00000000

this may be be the critical point, dmesg gave me the entry 0x04dd 0x9032...

3. created a file /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth-usb:
DEVICE='usb0'
BOOTPROTO='static'
BROADCAST='192.168.129.255'
IPADDR='192.168.129.1'
MTU=''
NETMASK='255.255.255.0'
NETWORK='192.168.129.0'
REMOTE_IPADDR='192.168.129.201'
STARTMODE='hotplug'
UNIQUE=''
#WIRELESS='no'

4. ln -s /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth-usb /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-usb0

5. created /etc/sysconfig/network/ifroute-usb0
192.168.129.201 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 usb0

plugging the zaurus on the docking station resulted in reboots with the message:
dhcpd[...]: infinite IP adddress lease time. Exiting.

here are more informations on my system:

from dmesg:
