Those damn pushpins

I have a 5600 with the standard Calendar app. which sticks a pushpin in the current date every time I copy a file to my Z.  This may be useful to some, but it is driving me nuts!  Is there a way to stop this pushpin business? I am decently sure there are no suitable options in Calendar\'s controls.

In calendar on my 860 I can select Option from the menu (top), Link File and select/deselect CF or SD. This will remove the pushpins if you have created files on CF or SD cards, not internal. I create all documents on external cards so it works for me.

It is bloody annoying though ;-)

Theer is an option under Options -] Link Files on the C760 datebook that turns off the pushpins for the CF and SD card, however thereis no way that I\'ve been able to find that does the same for /home/zaurus/Documents directory.

This along with the problems of monthly view crashing when datebook find a file/folder with wrong permisions led me to stop using it and move to KO/Pi  (search the forum for this - it\'s probably the longest topic on the forum) - its a great replacement to datebook.

I\'ve had no other problems with Calendar. Ko/Pi is fine but slow and isn\'t really a complete PIM replacement yet.

KO/Pi is the best in years of Palms (including Datebk3, 4, 5) and every PIM I could download or buy for the SL-5500.

Can\'t synch to linux with Calendar, and as I don\'t do Windows at home, I need synching support and KO/Pi is the only thing I\'ve found that does that relaibly. Also love the fact that todos are included in KO/Pi rather than being a seperate app.

What version of KO/PI are you using? I\'m using 1.7.6e and it\'s anything but slow.  Inbuilt todos, repeatable events, alarms, choice of views ranging from 1 to 30 days with just about every option between, strike out for canceled events - what more do you want from a Calendar?

It doesn\'t really help but the todo\'s can be inputted on the todo app but you can see the todo\'s on the calendar

How does one create a Calendar file on a CF card? I have been looking for that option and gave up - obviously it is possible, though, but how ?

No you can\'t as such, the pins are in relation to files created (hancom word etc). That\'s what I was referring to. The data files could be symlinked to an external card I suppose.

I find Ko/Pi a bit of a leviathon, I don\'t need that much of a PIM, plus I like the way the built in ones have some interoperability as rikya pointed out. It could get there (for me) but not yet, it would need an address book and a major redesign.  One major factor for me, it\'s too small, when I need to see appointments fast, squinting to read sub-micron characters isn\'t really practical. I\'m not a PIM person, I use it very sporadically, but the more I use the built-in one, the more I like it. I have absolutely no sync requirement, I use a PDA-type machine to carry such data, I have no requirement for it on a desktop machine.

Horses for courses, we use what suits us best. :-)

Padishah, do you realize that the fonts are fully customizable?  I have my \"what\'s next?\" view set fairly large.  No squinting needed.

Padishah - granted that everyone has their own needs and things which satisfy them, but you grouse of Ko/PI not being a complete PIM replacement is soon \"hopefully\" going to be a non-issue since Ka/Pi is being worked on I believe by the great zautrix. That\'s the addressbook part of Korganiser.

and I love that way I can see Todo and Calendar all in one screen as well as enter them together in the same app. I am just waiting for Ka/Pi now.
I have totally given up on even the tkcPIM apps as well as Sharp apps since seeing Ko/Pi.

But this is a moot point - since I do agree with you that we use what suits us best.

I judged Ko/Pi based on one I got a while back ver 1.50 and wrote it off in my head as shite. I removed it and installed the latest, and tweaked it to my needs (fonts etc).

I hereby apologise for slandering that which I was ignorant of.

Ko/Pi does indeed rock. It\'s ability to work in tandem with the built-in apps make it a truly complementary piece of software.
