bam, here's all the fonts/files in my fonts dir:
/usr/QtPalmtop.rom/lib/fonts
These are the default fonts in Cacko lite.
I haven't added or removed any fonts from this directory.
These fonts are actually linked to /home/QtPalmtop/lib/fonts on my C3100
I zipped the entire directory up in a zip file.
Below is ls in that directory:

It's unlikely that I have the answer, but I had some troubles with Midnight Commander recently. Actually, the problem was with QKonsole. I inadvertantly trashed the QKonsole that came installed with Cacko, and couldn't find a replacement that would use the VGA 16 font. That's the only font I've found that works well with mc.

I restored from a recent Nand backup and all was well again.

actually, it is ncurses that's the culprit. mc uses ncurses so even if you have the right font, VGA 16, it will display weird characters because mc uses the ncurses libraries to draw the text graphics. for a quick workaround use mc -a option
