Cacko 1.21 and Ambicom WL1100 C

Dear friends,

I set up my network parameters in NETWORK panel, plug in my ambicom CF (cacko states that it has been pluged in) in my SL-C860....

I try to connect...

Light in ambicom gets steady for a couple of seconds and then shuts off ...

The Ambicom gets "EJECTED" according to the text that pops up ... and an "ANONYMOUS MEMORY" is detected in the compact flash connector.

The ambicom is the same wifi cf I use in my zaurus SL 5500, with SHARP 3.10 rom, and there it works flawlessly ....

Also Cacko rom seems to recognize it OK when inserted (it flashes the correct text at the bottom of the screen) ....

Is it me ? or a buggy rom ?

I have exactly same card (and many other people) and it works ok.
Does that happen with a fresh ROm install? Do you have any other programs/utilities installed?

This also might be a glitchy CF connector in your 860.

Hi !

Thx for answering ... well ... I use CF memories and a TRENDnet ethernet 10/100 wired COMPACT FLASH into that connector. It doesnt feel like a faulty connector ... but maybe it is just THIS wifi card with THIS CF connector ?

The important bit of info is that you have it working ... so it should work for me too... I will keep investigating

I'd suggest to make a backup and the reflash your Z with the new ROM and then try the card. If it still flaky, that might be hardware problem...

I just seen your last comment: I am using CACKO'S ROM 1.21 with hotfix B ... which rom you recommend me to install ? (I like Cacko's  as it seems to be the best ... but if there was a Sharp English version of 1.40 that came with my 860, I would have kept that one instead, as I never had a single problem with my sl5500 and SHARP ROMS !)

Another bit of info:

Cardctl status gives:

3.3V 16-bit PC Card (suspended)

Cardctl ident gives:

manfid: 0xd601, 0x0002
function: 6 (network)

If I issue a cardctl resume, it "ejects" the ambicom and "recognizes" an Anonymous Memory...

Mine resumes fine. Did you try to reboot your Zaurus?

I reboot, try to connect...

Ambicom's led turns STEADY ON (in the SL 5500, when you try to connect it blinks) for three or so seconds, then the card is stated as Ejected and the "anonymous memory" gets inserted ...
