Cacko Kernel & 3.13 ROM -> Still IrDA problems!
« on: July 26, 2004, 04:58:28 am »
This weekend has been 'interesting'...

On Saturday I finally took the plung and reflashed my Zaurus SL5500 with the Sharp 3.10 ROM.  Apart from the rather cack icons the update looked well worth while.  Until, that is, I tried to dial up using my SonyEricsson T610 which always worked with the 2.38 ROMs.  It didn't work.  After research I found various posts to do with using the 3.13 ROMs and using the Cacko 32-30 patched kernel.

So yesterday evening I reflashed my pride and joy.  I had a couple of panics along the way when I had thought I bricked it.  I seem to get a recuring problem where by the kernel cannot find the mtdblock1 superblock.  A couple of reboots seemed to crash the PDA but also fix the problem at the same time.  So finally by about 10.00pm I had a reflashed PDA with the Cacko kernel (I get a penguin splash screen) and the 3.13 ROM.  I've also added a few extras like the IrDA applet and nice icons.

It looks great and does everything I want it to do except it still doesn't talk to my phone for dial up.  The IrDA applet shows that the phone is discoverable and you can transfer information using OBEX its just that it does work as a modem.  Are their scripts that are needed to be hacked?

Alternatively I may have to hit my credit card.  What are peoples experiences of the bluemonkey bluetooth card and my set up.

Thanks

Cyber.

It seems I was missing the magic incantation:

Code: [Select]
echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/irda/max_tx_window
echo 1000 > /proc/sys/net/irda/min_tx_turn_time

Adding that and it works.

I would still like to know what people think of the blue monkey BT card and how they have found it with SonyEricsson phones.

Yes it is.

Unfortunately I didn't see this in the download docs associated with the kernel I found it by searching the forum.

Is there a FAQ where this sort of thing can be stored to be found easily?  I.e.

Q. Why doesn't my T610 work with my Zaurus.
A. Because the Zaurus' software is broken.  But...

- Added patch to (possibly) fix IRDA GPRS connection issue with some Ericsson phones - thanks to Alex Gromov

Doing ...

echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/irda/max_tx_window
echo 1000 > /proc/sys/net/irda/min_tx_turn_time

... should make connection to the phone reliable

This is a quote fom 1.20 ROM description. 1.21 ROM includes all the fixes from 1.20.
