Advanced Bluetooth?
« on: July 27, 2004, 12:04:04 am »
I recently purchased a Nokia 6230 mobile phone to use as a companion device for my Zaurus (C-760 w/ Socket Bluetooth CF rev. F). I have been able to use the 6230 as a GPRS modem, but there is so much more I want to do with Bluetooth, such as:
-send SMS and MMS messages from the Z through the phone
-retreive SMS and MMS messages from the phone with the Z
-transfer files from the phone to the Z, and vice versa
-browse/edit the phone's contact list from the Z (GUI)

I have already searched the ZUG forums and Bluez.org extensively, to no avail. I am currently using Cacko 1.21b with the built-in Bluez protocol stack and tools, but am willing to try a different ROM and/or bluetooth implementation.

Here are the profiles the Nokia 6230 supports:
• SIM access profile
• Object push profile
• File transfer profile
• Dial-up networking profile
• Headset profile
• Hands-free profile
• Generic access profile
• Serial port profile
• Generic access exchange profile

Nothing of that kind that works out of the box on Z. There are some console tools that allow you to partialy do some of what you want, but if you haven't found them yet yourself, that means you probably won't get them to compile and work anyway...

Hmmm... so has that "pay-for-features/bugfixes" system been implemented yet?
Seriously, though, I was already thinking of donating some of my unused hardware (Ambicom Bluetooth CF BT2000, Symbol Wireless Networker Wi-Fi CF, Audiovox RTM-8000 GSM/GPRS CF, maybe even an SL-5000d) to one of the development teams. Which one, though?....

Cacko seems to be the most active - www.pdaxrom.org

You can visit their IRC channel which is #Cacko on irc.freenode.net

Well, the SL-5000d is now confirmed, and a Sharp CE-AG06 Digital Camera CF has been added to the list...
